World sleep day is an annual event dedicated to highlighting the importance of sleep for health and well-being. It's a call to action focusing on the problems related to sleep, including medicine education, social aspects and other. The day is organized by the World Sleep Society, aiming to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management  of sleep disorders. Each year, World Sleep Day brings attention to different aspects and benefits of good sleep health through its themes. 

History of World Sleep Day

World Sleep Day was hosted in the year 2008, It aimed at celebrating sleep and make people aware of sleep problems. World Sleep DAY focuses on different problems related to sleep and the medicines associated with it. World Sleep Day is celebrated annually on the Friday before the Spring Vernal Equinox. This date varies each year but typically falls in mid March. The specific date is chosen to correspond with the equinox, symbolizing the importance of regular and balanced sleep pattern akin to the balanced day and night during the equinox.

  • Your bed should be for sleeping strictly and not for other activities such as internet surfing.
  • Try and avoid screens before hitting the bed, social media commitments can affect your sleep pattern.
  • Do not consume caffeine for at least 6 hours before curling up in the bed.
  • Maintain a fixed bedtime routine, try and keep a schedule where you could doze off around the same time.
  • Also you can use some techniques to sleep fast like : Army techniques, 4-7-8 breathing methods
